Forest owner
Group certification is the easiest and most effortless way for a forest owner to join the EverCover certificate and start managing their forest while also respecting nature.
In group certification, several forest owners are part of the same certificate, and it is managed collectively. This way, costs remain reasonable, as they are shared among multiple owners.
Forest service companies authorized by AEFC provide the group certification service and take care of the administrative obligations on your behalf. So you don’t need to worry about extra paperwork – you can focus on managing your forest.
- Submit an application in the AEFC Registry.
- Enter the details of your forest property to be certified and your contact information in the form.
- In the application, select a forest service company authorized by AEFC to provide group certification services. (If you wish, you can contact the company in advance.)
- The group certifier will contact you as soon as possible and provide a proposal for carrying out the certification.
Once the certification is complete, you can practice nature-friendly EverCover forestry and sell timber as EverCover certified.
Company
The EverCover label adds value to your products and shows your customers that your company is committed to climate-friendly, clear-cut–free forestry and the preservation of thriving forest ecosystems. At the same time, it aligns with the European Union’s Closer-to-Nature Forest Management strategy: strengthening biodiversity, improving forest resilience to climate change, and providing sustainable solutions to society’s needs.
Choose the type of certification
The final certification process will be completed in spring 2026, but the EverCover Pilot project is already underway. The pilot is a lighter version of the standard certification process, which allows companies to start purchasing EverCover wood at this stage.
Your company can apply for one of the following options:
EverCover Matching – based on mass balance: at least the same amount of EverCover-certified wood is always brought to the market as is required in the products. (Read more)
- EverCover Direct – full chain of custody: the end product is made entirely of EverCover wood and can be traced all the way back to the forest. (Read more)
EverCover Auditor Training
The EverCover system will launch its first auditor training programme in spring 2026, with the aim of training the first auditors for EverCover certification.
The training consists of theoretical instruction in Tampere and practical field training in Salo, and will be carried out in March–April 2026.
The first auditor training will be conducted in Finnish, with expansion to English, Swedish, and Estonian planned for the near future.
The price of the AEFC training is:
1) €350 (VAT 0%) for forest certification
2) €500 (VAT 0%) for forest and chain of custody certification
The price is partially subsidised by a grant from the Kone Foundation, which makes it possible to offer the training at a lower cost than its actual expenses.
12.–14.3.2026 Theoretical Training, Tampere
10.–11.4.2026 Theoretical Training, Tampere
24.–25.4.2026 Field Training, Salo
The training is intended for individuals who have:
- Education in forestry or another environmental field
- Sufficient work experience in the forestry sector
- Willingness to participate in EverCover audits after completing the training
Those who complete the training will act as the first auditors for EverCover certification and will be among the first to assess companies as they transition to using the new EverCover certification system.
