The EverCover forest certification, launched in Brussels, received strong support from the European Commission. Commission forest expert Stefanie Schmidt stated at the event that the new certification, based on continuous cover forestry, will be closely monitored and taken into account in the Commission’s internal discussions. Member of the European Parliament Sirpa Pietikäinen (EPP) suggested that Finland should take a leading role in promoting the certification both in Europe and internationally.
